Bob Kasper passed away on October 9th, 2006. He had a long hard battle with his illness and he is in a better place now. He will be missed by many, but his knife designs will live on.

I don't know if someone will take over the book and training film, but we will continue to make his knives and pay the royalties to his wife Patricia, which are Bob's wishes.

The Dragon knife design is the result of ten years of research on a WW2-era system of close combat called Arwrology (pronounced R-ology) developed by physician and Samurai Jiu-Jitsu Daishi, Dr. Gordon Eric Perrigard. Arwrology is based on extreme in-close fighting methods utilizing automatic conditioned reflexes with a minimum amount of body motion that can be applied to a variety of techniques including a knife.

The Canadian Society of Arwrologists logo designed in 1940 is a black dragon. Like its namesake, the Dragon bites (tip), claws (edge,) and strikes (pommel) its adversary. It uses the same body motion as the techniques used for unarmed combat. Many close combat systems have a knife fighting system and an unarmed combat system. Arwrology has one system because it emphasizes general body movement, and not individual technique for different weapons and attack methods. Following this principle the Dragon becomes a part of the body, as opposed to an extension of the body. This combat system will be explained in my upcoming book, Introduction to Arwrology.

Many thanks to Pat and Wes Crawford. I’m a fighting-knife designer and not a maker, so their ability to understand and create is invaluable. From the moment of design presentation to delivery at my front door for evaluation was an amazing three weeks. This time frame also included integrity testing which is evident by the accompanying pictures. They are truly masters of their craft.

The blade length is 4 1/2" and the overall length is 9 1/2". The handle is micarta and the steel is S30V, the sheath is kydex designed for inside the waist band carry. Wes and I will be working on a few right away and I will try to get some new pictures on the site soon.

This is an all business fixed blade. Designed to be locked in a tight gripping fist, it is made for one purpose and that is to save your life in a fight.

We ran it through a Kevlar vest, steel belts on a tire, and sliced a melon with it. The point and edge held up, but the finish took a beating. It has a bead blasted handle and blade. The grooves cut into the micarta handle are something we have been studying for a long time now. The angle and dept cut into the micarta insure that it is locked into your hand whether  trusting or striking.

The knife in these pictures is the one that did all the test, and wasn't bead blasted afterwards. Also in our zeal to try this knife out we over looked put the finial edge on the knife. It has a rough edge and then bead blasted, and still performed terrific. Yours will be new and have a razor edge, and you get to put all the scratches in it.
